Liam Gallagher claims his new band will be "more musical" than Oasis.

The outspoken singer - whose older brother Noel quit Oasis last August after tensions and feuding between the pair became intolerable - believes the group he has formed without his sibling will be more successful because they will concentrate on the songs and nothing else.

He said: "We are going to be more musical than Oasis. It's not going to be so f***ing full-on, heavy chords, you know? More sophisticated. Not up its own a**e. but more musical."

Liam, 37, is currently working on new material with his ex-Oasis bandmates Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock, while 42-year-old Noel - who wrote the majority of Oasis' biggest hits, including 'Wonderwall' and 'Some Might Say' - is preparing to launch a solo career.

Liam has made no secret of his dislike of Noel and recently described him as the most "overrated" man of all time.

Discussing who he thought was the most overrated man in history, Liam told Esquire magazine: "Has to be Noel Gallagher."

Lady Gaga is reportedly coaching her sister to become a pop star.

The 'Telephone' singer - real name Stefani Germanotta - has reportedly put her 17-year-old sibling Natali Germanotta in touch with a top New York vocal coach with a view to training her as a backing singer.

Natali has also been sitting in on her sister's studio sessions to learn about songwriting and recording.

A source said: "Natali idolises her sister so of course she wants to follow in her footsteps.

"She's spending a lot of time with her and sitting in on recordings. She's got the bug.

"She has also taken to a playlist of Gaga's favourite tunes and is tapping into her influences to fit in with her vocal style."

The teenager's parents are adamant, however, that she has to finish school this year before embarking on a music career.

Natali appears in her sister's latest music video, nine-minute epic 'Telephone'.

The teenager plays one of the women put in prison with Gaga, who is subsequently broken out of jail by Beyonce Knowles.

Beyonce's sister Solange also followed her into the music business and has so far released two albums.

Bryan Ferry is embracing dance music on his next record.

The former Roxy Music frontman has recently re-recorded his collaboration with Groove Armada - as well as working with other dance artists - and is set to open Pete Tong's Wonderland night in Ibiza this summer.

He said: "Ibiza is an island full of surprises and I imagine me playing there must be one of them.

"However I have been a big fan of various kinds of dance music for a very long time, and my first visit to Ibiza was more than 30 years ago, so I feel fairly qualified and very enthusiastic about performing there."

Bryan was initially unsure about collaborating with Groove Armada for the song 'Shameless' - whom he was originally approached to guess on the album of - but ended up liking the song so much a reworked version will be on his own album.

Tom Findlay from the dance act explained: "He'd never done a collaboration before, he keeps his own counsel and he's quite circumspect.

"We sent him a few tracks and the actual song he really liked, he recorded the vocal on it and then we totally changed the backing track because we thought his vocal needed something else."

Bryan's version of the song is renamed 'Shameless (Rock'n'Roll desire)'.

The singer has also recently worked with Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, and Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea producer Nile Rodgers and dance artists Trentemoller and DJ Hell.

Meanwhile Bryan will perform with Roxy Music this summer at England Lovebox and Bestival festivals as well as Sonar festival in Spain.

Metallica plot landmark tour

Metallica are plotting a new tour to rival Pink Floyd's 'The Wall'.

The 'Enter Sandman' rockers are set to play 10 huge shows with a musical undertaking said to be huge enough to rival the 1980 to 1981 conceptual tour by the psychedelic band, which saw them build a wall in front of the audience then knock it down at the show's climax.

The group's manager, Peter Mensch, said: "Let's just say that next year you will see a Metallica tour that will blow your mind.

"They will only play in 10 cities but it will be a huge undertaking. It will be Metallica's equivalent of 'The Wall'."

He also joked about his role with the group being to come up with grand concepts such as the proposals for next year's tour in order to keep their stage show fresh.

He added: "I'm just shooting off dumb ideas and - by the way, between you and me - some of it is recycling stuff that people did 25 years ago but no one's smart enough to know that we recycled it.

"My job includes saying something like, 'I have this idea for us to play an equivalent of 'The Wall'. So here's some ideas so we can get the professionals in so they can tell me if I'm crazy or not.'"

Metallica are presently playing on their 'Death Magnetic' tour in South America, which recently led to trouble in Bogata, Columbia when 160 people were arrested after ticketless fans stormed the venue.

The Stooges, Genesis, ABBA, The Hollies and Jimmy Cliff were inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll hall of fame last night (15.03.10).

The legendary performers were all honoured with a dinner in New York, and representatives from all of the acts performed, apart from Genesis - who were instead tribute by the band Phish.

ABBA member Anni-Frid Prinzessin - who attended the show with singer-songwriter Benny Andersson, her ex-husband, from the group - said: "I am truly very touched by what once started as partnerships a long time ago, and that this has brought us here tonight."

Benny later performed a rendition of the band's song 'The Winner Takes It All' on piano, accompanied by singer Faith Hill on vocals.

Genesis attended the event, aside from original vocalist Peter Gabriel.

Drummer Phil Collins joked: "For people to come out and own up that they like what we do was very interesting, because we don't get a lot of that. It's very nice to accept music generally, rather than just rock 'n' roll."

Jimmy Cliff was on the verge of tears as he collected his award from producer and singer Wyclef Jean.

Jimmy said: "Reggae is a music that was not conceived in the United States like most of the music forms that we know. So to be standing here with you today, with a style of music that I was part of creating, is a great honour."

Iggy Pop - leader of The Stooges - took a more direct approach, saying "This thing is . . . heavy," when picking up his award, before showing two middle fingers to the crowd.

The Stooges performed their tracks 'Search and Destroy' and 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' at the event; Jimmy Cliff played 'The Harder They Come', accompanied by Wyclef, while the Hollies performed alongside Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine and Graham Nash.

The five annual entrants to the Rock 'N' Roll hall of fame are chosen by a panel of 600 US music industry professionals. Acts are eligible to qualify 25 years after releasing their debut record.

Boy George will return to the stage for the first time since leaving jail on Saturday night (20.03.10).

The vocalist has recently signed a new record deal and the video for the song has already proved a hit on YouTube.

George - real name George O'Dowd - recently revealed he wrote a song about Amy Winehouse, entitled 'Your Pain Makes a Beautiful Sound', while he was in prison and he intends to include it on his new album.

He said: "I wrote a diary and songs. I got into trouble because I wrote on the wall, 'Some things are past understanding, you just need a place to land.' It was part of a lyric.

"I actually wrote a song about Amy when I was in prison."

George will be appearing at the Merah nightclub from 10pm on Saturday.

Florence and the Machine’s fridge problem

A fridge is ruining Florence and the Machine's demos for her second album.

The 'Rabbit Heart' singer - real name Florence Welch - said she is trying hard to record songs for her second album while on the road, but that the constant humming of her tourbus fridge is seeping onto the recordings and ruining them.

She told Absolute Radio DJ Geoff Lloyd: "We've been writing this second album on this tour. But it's funny -we don't have a studio and we have less equipment than we had before and the sound of the refrigerator is constant in almost all of our recordings so we're kind of going backwards!

"The last album was recorded in a synagogue, this one's being recorded in various places with lots of humming and clacking sounds in the background."

Florence also told how her passion for using unconventional materials as instruments gave a rude awakening to the people staying next to her in one hotel.

She added: "We got in trouble actually, because we tried to record a song in a hotel room and I stupidly decided to use a partition wall as a bass drum which wasn't very helpful for the people in the room next door!"

Florence will headline the Latitude festival in Suffolk, Southern Britain, this weekend, and added she is excited because it is her first headline slot.

She added: "I can't believe someone actually wants me to headline a festival, I'm going to have to up my game!"
